Passage: 1 John 1:5-7
Physical fitness is essential, so we walk, work out, and eat good food. How about our spiritual health? “Enoch walked with God and he was not; for God took him.” Genesis 5:24

There are times when little children teach us a great deal about ourselves and about God. The little child in the picture has absolute trust in a father’s love, not thinking of the risk, but thinking only of the love, the strength, and the dependability of the father. As we look at the faith of Abraham we see the same dynamics. God called him to leave his home, his kindred, and his friends, “and go to a land I will show you.” The writer of Hebrews tells us that he went, “even though he did not know where he was going.” Heb. 11:8 This is what it means to follow the faith of Abraham.

The Roman Soldier depended on the protection of his armor and his own skilled in using his equipment. His life depended on it. Paul tells us that every Christian is a soldier in the army of God. We must go into the battle against the forces of evil, well trained to use God’s armor, ready to meet the soldiers of Satan. The Christian life is the battle of right against wrong – God’s soldiers vs. the soldiers of the evil one. How well equipped are we? How vigorously are we using our equipment?

Passage: 2 Peter 2:5
Poor Noah! Noah stands at the head of the list of history’s most unsuccessful preachers! He worked for about 150 years and only converted his own family – his wife, his three sons, and their wives! No large cheering crowds, no TV spectaculars, no popularity – just a servant of God doing his best to warn his contemporaries of the doom about to come upon them – but nobody listened. By contemporary standards in measuring “successful preachers” Noah stands at the top of the list of failures. By the way, most of Jesus’ contemporaries considered him to be a very unsuccessful religious reformer. This lesson will look at the Biblical standard of preachers and their work – both ancient and contemporary.

Husbands, Wives, and Children One of the most misunderstood passages in the New Testament is Ephesians 5:21-33. It’s about husbands and wives. In the minds of some people, the headship of the husband means “he’s the boss” and the submission of the wife means “she’s the servant.” Or, he is “superior” she is “inferior.” Not So!! Misinterpretation, lack of consideration of the context, and failure to investigate the meaning of the words has led to such false conclusions. What is Paul’s message to husbands, wives, and children? What are the Biblical obligations of members of the family?

Everything was going along fine in the Garden of Eden until --! Why would Adam and Eve have even thought of violating God’s directive when the Lord had blessed them so greatly? Sin has a way of enticing mankind in the most attractive – and deceitful – ways. “Just once,” “No one will know,” “Everybody does it,” “It will bring fun and happiness,” etc. These and many more are among the contemporary attractions which Satan places before us. The tragic consequences of sin are seldom considered in our world. The deceit which entrapped Adam and Eve is the same as the deceit which entraps us. It was not the physical attraction of the “apple” which created the downfall. It was a much more important and profound principle. In this lesson we will explore some often overlook elements in this familiar but tragic story.

Just as children imitate their parents, so Christians are called on to imitate God. As boys and girls grow up they go through stages of imitating. Boys imitate fathers and girls imitate mothers. They try to wear parent’s shoes, talk like parents, and entertain the desire to “grow up and be like mom” or “grow up and be like dad.” Paul gives excellent insights for children and adults as well. “Be imitators of God” The Christian life is a life of imitation. In this lesson we will look at a few keys to the life of joy as we accept the challenge of becoming “Imitators of God”

The Bible gives very little information on the creation of the universe, but that is the secret of its wonder and beauty. We could neither comprehend nor describe its magnitude or process. What the Bible does tell us about the creation is profound and wonderful but it is expressed in a simple statement, – “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” From ancient times until today, men have tried to figure it out and many theories have been offered through the centuries. In this lesson want to look, not at the scientific theories or try to explain the inexplicable, but to engage the message of its existence and the power and love of the Creator.
